Christmas Tree Balls
One legend says the first glass ball Christmas ornaments were made by Hans Greiner from the town of Lausch in Germany in the 16th century. Hans Greiner was a glass-blower and he decided to make glass ball Xmas tree decorations for his own children. That brilliant idea was liked by the town dwellers of Lauscha very. And they began to order the same ornamental pieces from that talented master for their holiday trees too. However, many historians are convinced the earliest glass Christmas balls were really designed and blown by Hans Greiner from Lauscha. But it actually happened in 1847, not in 16th century as that legend says. He was a direct descendant of the first Hans Greiner who was a glass master too.
